Some problems can wait until morning. A house with no heat on a freezing night, or no cooling during a heat wave with a baby or an elderly parent inside, is not one of them. When it cannot wait, call 911Air-Care. A real person answers our phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — nights, weekends and holidays — and we dispatch emergency technicians across Northern Virginia.

What Counts as an HVAC Emergency?
- No heat at all when it is cold outside — especially with children, elderly family members, or health needs in the home
- No cooling during extreme heat
- A burning smell, smoke, or sparking from your system
- A gas smell near the furnace (leave the house first — see below)
- Water leaking from the system and spreading to floors or ceilings
- A system that trips the breaker again and again
What to Do While You Wait
- Burning smell, smoke, or sparking: keep away from the equipment. If there is a fire or immediate danger, leave the building and call 911. Do not touch the equipment or the breaker panel if it is not safe to do so, and do not restart the system until a qualified technician has checked it.
- Gas smell: leave the building immediately. Do not operate electrical switches or appliances, and do not try to find the leak. Once you are outside and away from the building, call 911 or your gas company’s emergency line. Do not go back inside until the authorities say it is safe — call us only after the immediate danger has been dealt with.
- No heat: close blinds and curtains, keep doors to unused rooms shut, and use space heaters carefully — away from bedding and curtains, and never left unattended.
- Water leaking: turn the system off and, if you can do it safely, shut off the water supply to the unit to limit damage.
- One simple check: if the system will not start at all, look once at your breaker panel and the thermostat batteries. If it trips again or stays dead, stop there and let us handle it.
What Happens When You Call
- A real person answers, day or night — not a call center script.
- We ask a few quick questions about what the system is doing, so the technician arrives with the right tools and parts.
- We dispatch an emergency technician and keep you updated on the arrival time.
- On site, we diagnose first and explain your options and their costs before any repair begins — even at 2 AM, the rule is the same: no surprises.
- Many problems can be diagnosed on site, and many are repaired during that first visit. If a special part is needed, we will explain the next steps, make the system safe to leave, and complete the repair as soon as the part is in hand.

Yes. After the diagnosis, we explain the options and the cost of each. Work begins only with your approval.
